Playing one of our murder mysteries requires no special acting abilities, just a willingness to have fun. Our site gives you all the details you need to prepare for the party including character descriptions of allguests, internal information about your character (do not reveal this to others), and costume/proprecommendations.
During the party, each of you will be given clues. The clues provide all the information required to unlockthe mystery. Each clue is designated as a clue to be concealed or a clue to be revealed. Conceal clues aregenerally information about your character that you try to hide (without lying) from the others. Revealclues are ones that you should share with others in casual conversation.
During the party, guests will mingle around asking questions about each other's character and about cluesyou have received. As the game progresses, you will gather more and more information and at the end ofthe allotted time you will need to sift through fact and fiction to decide who the murderer is.
The characters can be played to suit the comfort zone of each player. If you like the spotlight or enjoy roleplaying, immerse yourself in your character’s persona and live the night as you think they would. Youmay even decide to exaggerate your character’s personality for even more effect. On the other hand, ifyou prefer to participate in a less theatrical capacity, you may want to sit on the couch and let peoplecome to you, approach each character off to the side or just listen in on other conversations until you getyour feet wet and are feeling a bit more comfortable.
There are only a few simple rules to follow when playing our games.
Stay in Character. (Costumes are highly recommended)
Each game takes approximately 1-1/2 to 3 hrs, depending on the number of people playing. Host-Party.com Murder Mystery Games Page 3 of 10 Back to the Eighties Sample Print Kit Round 1 - Like Choice Introductions Round Instructions
The Totally Awesome Cocktail Party begins as the guests arrive. Create a '80s ambiance with an '80s mixCD playing softly, '80s decor (i.e. '80s movie posters, etc.), and '80s movies without the audio (i.e. Backto the Future, The Karate Kid etc.) if there is a television in the party room.
Since the murder takes place during your party, please designate a bedroom (where the murdered victimwill be placed) and place the following items under the bed or in a closet for the victim before the partybegins. 1) The Victim Sign (is found in the Game Materials Kit.)2) White face powder / paint (host supplied)3) Rubik’s cube (host supplied)
As your guests arrive, give each a nametag and a chance to get acquainted. As cocktails are being served,Round 1 envelopes should be handed out to each guest. This is an introductory round, where each guestgives a short description of themselves. You can also creatively display the clue-containing envelopes ona table for the guests to locate their own character names. General Clue (Share with all Guests)
