ON THE FRONT FOOT
SUPPORT LIFE OR SUSTAIN HEALTH?
Most of the food in the RSA today will support life, but it won’t sus- tain health. I am often shocked to see what junk pupils have in their lunchboxes. To eat chocolates, soft drinks, chips, etc during a pupil’s school day will not assist him/her to maintain a healthy balanced day.
Caffeine shows up in everything from coffee, tea, chocolates andnearly every cool drink made on this planet. When your adrenalinsystem is constantly stimulated by caffeine, you are robbing Peter topay Paul (Sarah/Sue). Soon it is pay back time. You are going tohave to pay back your adrenalin system and depleted energy reserves.
Your blood sugar levels will play havoc with your energy/mind lev-els and you can expect a serious bumpy ride.
Get level headed and school your child to:1. Eat a healthy breakfast. If you do not know what is healthy for your child, Find out! We live in an informative era, eg internet, books, “qualified friends”.
2. Drink water during the day. Water comes closer to being a genu- ine health potion than any other substance on earth.
3. Teach your child to eat fresh fruit and veg.
4.
Exercise eg. School sport – consistent exercise is the best way tokeep your energy levels high while improving the way you feel.
SMILE—A smile uses less energy than a frown Whatever you do, make a decision with which you can live
– support life or sustain health!

NETBALDAG: PAUL GREYLING
On Saturday 1st of September - spring day, we went to Paul Greyling to play netball. Al-though it did not rain very hard, we played in the drizzle, and at times the wind was quite strong. The U/8’s played their first match against Zwaanswyk and won 7-6. They lost their other two matches. 13 – 2 against Kommetjie Primary and 6 – 4 against Reddam House. The U/10’s Lost their first match against Zwaanswyk 2 – 10 and won their second match against Kommetjie Primary, 6 – 5. The U/ 1 1’s won both their matches. The first against Bay Primary 5 – 3, and their second match against Reddam House, 4 – 2. Well done. On a previous occasion they lost against Red-dam and were determined to beat them this time. We are proud of you. The team spirit and attitude in this team is very special. The U/12’s won their first match against Kommetjie Primary 5 – 2, and lost their second and third matches. Zwaanswyk 2 – 3. Reddam 2 – 5. The U/13’s played 3 matches. They won their first match against Sun Valley 8 – 3. They won their second match against Kommetjie Primary 8 – 2 and they won their third match against a team from Groot Brak, Vorentoe, 8 – 5. This was a tough match, but the girls were in charge. They pressurized the team and it paid off. Well done girls. Thank you to our parents for their support. These were the last matches of the season. WP FINALS! Our U/13 team won their matches last Wednesday and are the winners of the Southern Sub-urbs. They won 27 – 2 against Kirstenhof and 23 – 16 against Herschel. Our next big hurdle is the WP finals against schools from the Northern Suburbs. Last year we won silver. We wish them all of the best. You are what you think—and yes, you also are what you eat. (AM) This pastor’s got guts!
Thought you might enjoy this interesting prayer given in Kansas at the opening sessions of
their Senate. It seems prayer still upsets some people.
When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansa Senate, every-one was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard: “Heavenly Father,We come before you todayTo ask your forgiveness andTo seek your direction and guidance.
We know Your word says:“Woe to those who call evil good”But that is exactly what we have done.
We have lost our spiritual equilibriumAnd reversed our values.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbour’s possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of speechand expression.
We have ridiculed the time honoured values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.
Search us, Oh, God,And know our hearts today.
Cleanse us form every sin and set us free.
Amen!” The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in pro-test. In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev Wright is pastor, logged morethan 5 000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively. The church isnow receiving international requests for copies of this prayer from India, Africa and Korea.
Arise, shine, for your light has come! prayer on his radio program, “The Rest of the Story,” and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever
