II HEALTH HAZARD DATA Health Effects: Acute Toxicity:
Eye Irritation Rabbits: Very mild irritant.
Toxic if inhaled. Vapour may be irritating to respiratory tract.
Symptoms typical of cholinesterase inhibition (for all routes of entry) include nausea, diarrhoea, muscle weakness, dizziness, pinpoint pupils, loss of reflexes, blurred vision, headache, sweating, mental confusion and tremors.
Repeat minor exposure may have a cumulative poisoning effect. The main health effect from repeated exposure would be toxic symptoms of cholinesterase inhibition described above. Prolonged exposure to the solvent may defat and dry the skin leading to dermatitis.
If you feel unwell, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre immediately (show the Label where possible).If poisoning occurs, immediately contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre (telephone 13 11 26), and follow the advice given. Show this Material Safety Data Sheet to a doctor.
If swallowed, give one atropine tablet every 5 minutes until dryness of the mouth occurs. Obtain medical attention immediately.
Hold eyes open, Immediately irrigate with copious quantities of water for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical assistance as soon as possible.
Remove any contaminated clothing and footwear. Wash affected areas with plenty of soap and water. Administer atropine tablets as above. Seek medical assistance if effect persists after first-aid treatment. Wash contaminated clothing before re-use.
If mists, dusts or combustion products are inhaled, remove victim to fresh air. Lay victim down and keep victim warm and calm. Administer atropine tablets as above. Seek medical assistance immediately.
Eye wash station and shower facilities. Atropine tablets 0.6 mg.
Advice to Doctor:
Chlorpirifos Methyl is a cholinesterase inhibitor. Atropine by injection or ipratropium bromide by inhalation are preferred antidotes. Oximes such as 2-PAM may be given as an adjunct to atropine, if given within 24 hours after exposure. As this product contains a petroleum solvent, aspiration into the lungs may occur during ingestion or from vomiting.
III PRECAUTIONS FOR USE Exposure Standards:
No exposure standard has been assigned by the National occupational Health and safety commission (Worksafe Australia). The manufacturer of the hydrocarbon solvent recommends a TWA exposure limit of 100 ppm. Production workers and agricultural workers handling this product should be monitored for cholinesterase levels. A baseline level should be established prior to any potential exposure.
Engineering Controls: Control process conditions to avoid contact. Use local exhaust ventilation

Personal protection: Eyes:
Face shield, or goggles when using a respirator.
Elbow length PVC or nitrile rubber chemical resistant protective gloves.
Wear a half-face piece respirator in enclosed ar eas and to avoid breathing spray.
Do not eat, drink or smoke until after washing. Wash thoroughly after handling. After each days use wash personal protection equipment, including gloves, goggles and/or face shield, respirator face piece and contaminated clothing. Avoid contact with skin and eyes

IV SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION Storage & Transport: Location: Store in the sealed, original container in a cool, well
ventilated dry, low fire risk area away from sources of heat or ignition. Ensure containers are correctly labelled and securely sealed. Security; Store in locked room or separate building away from children, animals, food, feedstuffs, seed and fertilisers. Do not allow access to unauthorised persons. Protection from Weather/Sunlight: Do not store in direct sunlight. Storage Incompatibilities: Keep away from food, foodstuffs, drink or clothing. Store separately from herbicides.State/Territory Transportation Requirements: The product is not classified as a Dangerous Good for Transport by road and rail.
Spills and Disposal:
Personnel involved in the clean up are required to wear adequate clothing as in the “Precautions For Use” section above.Transfer the leaking container into a clean empty drum and label. Advise Grow Choice Pty Ltd. Of the situation. Prevent spillage from contaminating streams, rivers or waterways.Cover any leaked product with absorbent material such as soda ash, lime, clay or sawdust. Sweep up for disposal in a suitable container. Dispose material in an approved facility orby burying below 500mm of soil in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for that purpose away from crops, pastures, desirable vegetation and tree roots and away from water sources or homes. DO NOT dispose of undiluted material on site. Empty any remaining product and rinsings from the drum into the spray tank. Containers marked with the drumMuster sticker are suitable for disposal by this program. Or break, crush or puncture and bury empty containers in local authority landfill. If no landfill is available, bury the containers below 500mm in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways, vegetation and roots. DO NOT burn empty containers or product.

DO NOT use a water jet from a fire hose.Special Fire Fighting – this product is a Class C1 combustible liquid. Products of combustion may include oxides of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and sulfur, hydrogen chloride gas, chlorides and phosgene. Vapours from this product are heavier than air and may accumulate in sumps, pits and other low lying places, forming potentially explosive mixtures. They may also flash considerable distances. Fire fighters should wear full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus (SAA 1716).DO NOT release contaminated water into the environment. Keep intact containers cool by spraying with water.
